In my experience, being human means knowing pain, loss, fear, and confusion along with joy, felt intimacy, and meaningful connection. Meaningful relationship, with ourselves and with others, is the foundation of a balanced and flourishing life. And yet, so often our lives can be filled with difficult and challenging emotions. The archetype of the Moon is the psycho-somatic part of our being – our bodies, feelings, and emotions. The Moon is the relationship we have with our mother and family, our early childhood experiences, and how we nurture ourselves and others. Whereas the archetype of Jupiter expands whatever it touches so we must first look at what is being touched in the lunar dimension of life to understand what is being amplified here. Growth often comes with growing pains, some discomfort, anxiety, and fear of the unknown as we work our edges. Moon-Jupiter teaches us that when we take care of our core needs and nourish ourselves there is an abundance of support and maternal care that blesses our lives. When we get overly caught in what is comfortable and easy we sometimes miss the larger call to grow.

In this course, we will trace the human relationship with the starry sky from its earliest origins in the recognition of solar and lunar cycles and their relationship to light, heat, and tides, through the sacred geometric stone circles of megalithic culture, to the birth of astrology proper with the Mesopotamian zodiac and Egyptian decans. When Alexander the Great unified these two regions with parts of Europe in the west and India in the east, the great cultural synthesis that ensued gave birth to Hellenistic astrology and the four pillars of our practice to this day: planets, aspects, signs, and houses. The Middle Ages saw the cultural center shift from Alexandria to Baghdad, where astrology flourished and evolved in the Islamic Empire before being retransmitted to the West during the Renaissance, dying a second death during the Enlightenment, and being born again through Theosophy and the New Age.
I would be honored to be your guide on this remarkable adventure through time, where we will not only study but imagine and experience what it was like for our ancestors to become conscious of their embeddedness in the universe. For the history of astrology is the story of humanity awakening to its place in the cosmos and thereby navigating its relationship to the divine. That story continues with us today, as part of an unbroken lineage stretching back to the earliest of our species, able to be animated once again, in always deepening communion of above and below.

ASTRO CHAT occurs when we spontaneously turn on our phone recorder in the middle of what we are experiencing as a stimulating conversation about astrology. We are still discovering what ASTRO CHAT is, but for now, we can say this: It’s us in our life, doing what we love. After 10 years with the trustpsyche logo (something I was convinced I would never change), I have decided, with the guidance of my wise council, to change my logo and website. I have grown so much over the past decade and so has Trust Psyche. I am born with the Saturn-Uranus conjunction of 1987, became a professional astrologer under the opposition in 2007-08, and now with the current square I am ready to integrate and become all the changes I have experienced (a fabulous way to honor Saturn-Uranus alignments). I am beyond in love with my new logo and website. All to be released in the coming days. A major rebirth for me and everything I believe in with astrology and depth psychology.

This time will be fully dedicated to answering your questions. I will not prepare any material to teach. Please refrain from asking personal questions about your birth chart. Instead, reframe the question so that everyone may benefit from hearing the answer. For example, if you are curious about what your natal grand cross means, ask the question like this, “if someone has a grand cross in their birth chart, how do we interpret that?” I always like to ask my questions in a way that both benefits my learning and curiosity, as well as that of everyone else listening.
In 2021, trustpsyche will offer three new online astrology courses for all levels. Personal Transits in Astrology, Aspects in Astrology, and The Astronomy and Cultural History of Astrology.
Now is a good time to begin studying with me if you have been considering taking astrology classes.
